Yesterday I was in a car accident. It was my fault. I didn't see the guy stop in front of me and I rear-ended him. It was awful. The car is probably totaled. I wasn't going more than 15 miles an hour but both airbags deployed. I was choking on airbag dust and my car was crunched into the bumper of a big truck. The guy I hit was ok, and he helped me get out of the car. I called my insurance company, and then I called my mom. I was SO SHAKY. By the time mom got there I was at the beginnings of an anxiety attack. I was bawling my headoff and trying to fill out paperwork. I couldn't find my current proof in insurance, so I got cited $732 for that (which fortunately I can get removed once I show the city clerk I really do have insurance), and I got cited $167 dollars for "following too close". I was at a red light by my work. The light turned green, and I went through the intersection. I thought all the cars were moving but unfortunately the guy in front of me stopped about two car lengths past the intersection just as I was loooking out my side mirror. Wham!
I can't even begin to describe how being in an accident feels. Fortunately nobody got hurt. I am sore today from the impact though. I just can't believe that I'm going to have to go through this whole car buying thing again and car payments that I can't afford. If I have to get a new car, I am going to try to get one just like I had. I love that car. I don't want a new one. I'm so sad.
Janine and Simon showed up as well, and Virginia ended up driving by on an errand. She offered up her car for me to borrow without hesitation. Wow. Here I am in an accident and she offers me her car. She was driving by and recognized it was ME and stopped. Just STOPPED in the middle of the road. She stopped traffic and everything. She parked off to the side and when she got to me in the middle of the intersection, she was crying cause I was crying and it was such a mess.
The tow-truck came to get my car because the front wheels wouldn't roll anymore. It is now at Henderson Chevrolet body shop and I am waiting to hear from the insurance company to see if it is totaled. I should hear from them tomorrow or Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kenny is letting me borrow his truck for a few days and then I think I might take Virginia up on her offer. I'm trying to avoid a rental car for as long as I can so my claim with the insurance company isn't as crazy.
Holy crap I was in a car accident!

Aww man Joni. That really sucks, and a few days before you birthday too. So glad no one got hurt. Guess I need to come up with something uber fabulous for your Birthday to help with the pain. Let me know if there's anything I can do.
